NJAPIE: Building Effective Partnerships

NJAPIE Mission Statement
The mission of the New Jersey Association of Partners in Education is to develop and maintain an alliance of business/education partnerships programs, volunteer programs, organizations, associations and individuals. The goal of this organization is the establishment of a state network of partnerships that will improve the quality of New Jersey's schools and the academic and social development of students.

NJAPIE Goals

  • Encourage alliances between the public and private sectors that will improve academic achievement.
  • Foster the development of successful educational partnerships among school districts, higher education institutions, and business and community organizations.
  • Share information on successful partnership programs and connect participants with these programs.
  • Develop a training institute for teams from various groups to improve knowledge and skills in developing and sustaining educational partnerships.
  • Advocate policies that support public/private collaboration and increase resources for these partnerships.

School District Partners
Today's students need a broad range of resources to prepare for the challenges that lay ahead. Linking schools with businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations is one effective approach to obtaining these resources.

Through diverse activities such as mentoring, student internships, staff development and training, and other innovative partnerships, member districts can more effectively address student needs that reach beyond the walls of the classroom.

Corporate and Organizational Partners
Today's competitive marketplace requires a better educated and trained workforce. Corporate and organizational membership in NJAPIE allows you to play a direct role in support of educational improvements throughout New Jersey. As you seek to improve workforce readiness, NJAPIE offers credible opportunities to leverage your resources.

Higher Education Partners
The coordination of pre-kindergarten through post-secondary education requires the active involvement of higher education institutions with elementary and secondary schools. NJAPIE provides colleges and universities with opportunities to further develop and promote their partnerships with schools.

Higher education's commitment to partnerships designed to improve education in our schools is tied directly to issues regarding admissions criteria, curriculum articulation, and joint programs, all of which have become increasingly important to educators.
