Purpose:
ASPIRA programs are designed to meet the critical educational needs of
urban minority students in middle school and high school. The comprehensive
program includes personal, academic and career counseling; tutoring; cultural
enrichment activities; leadership development; and assistance with post-secondary
preparation and placement. ASPIRA programs are school based. The staff
members work in partnership with parents, teachers, school guidance counselors
and other school staff to reach those middle and high school students
with a history of truancy, behavioral problems, and poor academic standing.
The business community, private foundations and government agencies provide
the funding to cover the costs of operating the programs.
Benefits:
- We are school based and work closely with the school staff in carrying
out our program.
- Business - We receive funding for our program.
- Community - We serve the community of students and their parents.
- Higher Ed - Conducts workshops and conferences that benefit our students.

will remain in school until graduation. Many will go on to college.

- The community will have self-sufficient, productive members.
- Higher Ed - More youths will be prepared to pursue post secondary
education.
