Purpose:
We have just begun a partnership with Bell Atlantic to train high school
seniors to become central office installers. Students who pass the Bell
Atlantic test at the end of the training period will be hired by Bell
and their vendors. Fujitsu Corp. has also signed on as a partner in this
endeavor. Students selected for this program must have had course work
in electricity and electronics. While we offer electricity courses, we
have added an electronics course this year and 11th graders will take
an electronics course at Hudson County Community College. Students in
this group visit various industries to learn how what they are learning
is used in that industry. Bell Atlantic and their partners have agreed
to work with us in this area by hosting such a career day each year.

- Opportunity to have students continue in post secondary education
- Bell Atlantic and their vendors have an acute shortage of installers
and this training program will provide them with trained employees they
will have trained prior to employment. Offering post secondary tuition
will also guarantee upward mobility into areas where they have an aging
workforce.
