Purpose:

    Paper Mill Playhouse offers partnership opportunities for NJ high schools and middle schools. For the high school student - "The Adopt-a-School Project" is a three-year partnership that features performances, workshops and residencies designed to promote cultural literacy and aesthetic understandings; "The Rising Star Awards" recognize excellence and achievement in the production of high school musicals and also provides scholarship opportunities for young theatre students; "The Young Critics Program" promotes critical thinking and writing skills. For middle schools, Paper Mill's "Theatre Start Program" builds skills of communication, collaboration and problem solving.

Benefits:

  • Community awareness of the value of the arts in education and an informed arts audience for the future
  • Schools get an increased visibility for the arts in their district and validation of student and teacher efforts in the arts. Programs include performances, study guides, bus transportation, etc.
