Purpose:
To collaborate on the preparation of preservice students who have the goal of working in an urban district. It involves full year placements, training in mentoring for cooperating teachers (including how to help students understand and use the Core Curriculum Content Standards) and laptop computers for supervisors, students and cooperating teachers so they can email one another with questions about upcoming lessons, etc.
Benefits:
- Students have usually been hired by the district which benefits everyone.
- Students have had many extra experiences, workshops, etc. because of their participation in this program.
- New hires who are "committed teachers" to their students and district.
